Note: You cannot delete an account from your machine while you are signed into it – you’ll need to create an alternative login with a local account first. These methods just remove the Microsoft account locally from your Windows 10 computer. Method 1: Remove Microsoft Account Login from Control Panel

1. Press Windows key + X on your keyboard to display WinX menu and select Control Panel.

   

2. From the Control Panel, click the View by drop-down arrow and select Large icons. Click User Accounts.

   

3. Click the “Manage another account” link.

   

4. This screen shows all the accounts currently on your computer. Click on the Microsoft account you want to delete.

   

5. From the list of options, Click on the Delete the account option.

   

6. The next window asks if you want to keep the files relating to this account. If you click on Keep Files, all your personal files are kept intact and you can decide to delete the profile folder at any time.

Method 2: Remove Microsoft Account Login from Netplwiz

1. Press Windows key + R on your keyboard to open the Run box. Type netplwiz and press Enter.

   

2. This will open the User Accounts window. if you have auto-login enabled, you have to check the “Users must enter a user name and password to use this computer” box.
3. Select your Microsoft account from the list and click on Remove.

   

4. You’ll be prompted to confirm, and if you really want to continue, click Yes and the Microsoft account login will be removed in no time.

   

Method 3: Remove Microsoft Account Login from Settings App

1. First of all, open Settings app by clicking the Start button and selecting Settings option. You can also use the “Windows + I” hotkey.

   

2. On the Settings page, click the Accounts option.

   

3. After that, select Family & other users option available on the left side of Accounts menu.
4. Click on the Microsoft account that you wish to delete, and then from the available options that open below, click on Remove button.

   

5. When the confirmation dialog box appears, click on “Delete account and data” button for deleting the currently selected Microsoft account.

   

Note: If you’re currently logged in to the local account you want to delete, log off and sign in with another account in order to remove it. Deleting a user account requires you to log on as administrator, and the built-in Administrator account is undeletable.

Method 1: Delete Local Account Using Control Panel

1. First of all you need to access the Control Panel. Press the Windows key + X and then select Control Panel from the WinX menu.

   

2. Select the View by option at the top right of the Control Panel. Set it to Large icons and then click on User Accounts.

   

3. Select Manage another account in the list options.

   

4. Click on the account that you want to delete.

   

5. Click on Delete the account link from the left pane.

   

6. Next it will ask you whether you want to keep or to delete the user’s file. It’s up to you as to which option you want to choose.

   

Method 2: Delete Local Account via Local Users and Groups

1. Press the Windows key + R to open the Run box. Type lusrmgr and press Enter.

   

2. In the Local Users and Groups window, click Users from the left pane.
3. Right-click on your unused user account in the center pane, and then select Delete.

   

4. Click Yes and the user account will be removed immediately.

   

Method 3: Delete Local Account Using Netplwiz

1. Press the Windows key + R to open the Run box. Type netplwiz and press Enter. If prompted by UAC, then click Yes.

   

2. Check the “Users must enter a user name and password to use this computer” box. When this box is unchecked, the user list below and the Remove button will be greyed out.
3. Highlight the user account you want to delete and click on Remove.

   

4. Click Yes to confirm your account removal.

   

Method 4: Delete Local Account Using Command Prompt

1. To open an elevated Command Prompt, press the Windows key + X to access the WinX menu and then click on Command Prompt (Admin).

   

2. Now you can run the net user command to delete a local account. For example, to remove a local account named Joe, type:
   net user Joe /del

   

3. Once the account is deleted, it will disappear from Windows 10 login screen.

Method 5: Delete Local Account from Settings Charm

1. Press the Windows key + I to open the Settings charm. You can also access it by clicking the Start button and then select Settings.

   

2. From the setting window, click on Accounts.

   

3. Click on “Family & other users” tab on the left pane, click on the user account you wish to delete and the Remove button will be shown. Click on it.

   

4. You’ll be prompted to confirm, and if you really want to continue, click “Delete account and data“.

   

5. This will remove the user account from the login screen, as well as any files, settings, and program data associated with that user account.
